BAM Art Advisory presents Thresholds of Abstraction, the third edition of the Art in the Yard outdoor art series, created in collaboration with Stephen Moser Architect (SMA). The 2023 edition will feature a re-imagined design, which will include the first floor of a 1880s historic Larchmont, NY home, the front porch, tented patio, and outdoor yard. Building on the theme of thresholds, the group exhibition will feature the new work of 19 museum-quality artists in curated, distinctive spaces, including large sculpture installed outdoors to activate the yard.

A threshold in architecture can be an entry point or doorway, serving as a transition from one space to another, whereas a threshold can also be a starting point. Just as the front porch can act as a threshold between outdoors and indoors, the work will represent a transition from abstraction to more realistic work in delineated spaces.

Works will include bold abstract painting by Ky Anderson, Vicki Sher, and Paige Beeber; color field and gestural painting by Sarah Hinckley and Hue Thi Hoffmaster, geometric minimal work by Justin N Kim, Kate Petley, Jean Wolff, Rose Frisenda, and Zarebinski; emotive landscape and still life photography by Dora Somosi, Elena Lyakir, Jefferson Hayman and Peter Margonelli; organic textured painting by Mirena Kim and Julia von Eichel; abstract landscapes by Jocelyn Fine; and large outdoor sculpture by John Clement and Vicki Sher.
