Press Release

June 14 - October 12, 2024

Larchmont, NY (June 2024)—BAMart Advisory, an independent contemporary art consultancy headed by Brooke Molinaroli, launches BAMart at ROOM: What Nature Leaves Behind, a new exhibition at ROOM, a luxury furniture and lighting business on June 14 - October 12, 2024. As a departure from three successful indoor/outdoor exhibitions of the Art in the Yard series where nearly 2,000 people attended in 2021-2023, BAM Art has curated a strong collection of museum-quality artworks to fill and amplify the sophisticated designs in ROOM’s Greenwich, Connecticut showroom.

“Curating art to pair with the beautiful luxury designs of ROOM pushed us to be even more selective in pieces chosen around a cohesive, tight theme than in past shows” Molinaroli said. “The visual and emotional impact of the natural world is pervasive in the design work at ROOM and is echoed in the varied and beautiful biomorphic forms, present in the artwork.

With showrooms in Greenwich, CT and TriBeCa, New York City, ROOM has been in business for over 25 years, established by husband and wife team, Shawn Miller and Amy Crain. ROOM presents a selection of the world's renowned designers, including Lindsey Adelman, Bocci, and Larose Guyon, and their own bespoke upholstery and case goods collections. Recently, they launched a bespoke capsule furniture collection, CALMA, in collaboration with award-winning London-based designer Helena Clunies-Ross.

As many of ROOM's designs are inspired by and rooted in the natural world, it was fitting to select contemporary art that reflects the shapes and forms of nature including horizons, plant life, and changing light of our world. Further inspired by a quote from iconic abstract painter, Joan Mitchell, “to paint what [nature] leaves me with,” the artists in this show utilize a wide variety of materials, from paper pulp to paint to cloth to photography, transforming what they see and feel in the natural world into beautiful abstract art.

This group show includes a range of abstract works by 9 artists. BAMart at ROOM: What Nature Leaves Behind includes contemporary artists who have been featured by BAMart in the past as well as artists who are new to it. Featured artists come from the NYC area, Los Angeles, Mexico, Cape Cod and beyond:

Ky Anderson, Frances Ashforth, Mariana Garibay Raeke, Sarah Hinckley, Mirena Kim, Mary Little, Peter Margonelli, Dora Somosi, and Julia von Eichel. Artists will be present at the opening reception on Friday, June 14, 6-8pm to talk about their work with patrons and guests.
